iDEA® Accident Statement
The joint accident report agreed between drivers, completed and signed from your phone, with no paper.
What is it?
The iDEA® Statement is the digital version of the joint road accident report (European Accident Statement). It replaces the paper form that both drivers fill in and sign at the scene of the claim and sends it straight to the insurers involved.
Because it is completed on the spot with data already validated, it avoids the most common errors of the paper form — misread number plates, unticked boxes, illegible sketches — which otherwise slow down processing later on.
How it works
- 1. Download the appHave it installed before you need it: the middle of an accident is not the best time to be downloading anything.
- 2. Fill in the report with the other driverThe app asks for the same details as the paper form: vehicles, policies, circumstances and a sketch, plus photographs.
- 3. Both of you sign on the phoneThe digital signature of both drivers closes the statement and gives it the same validity as the paper version.
- 4. It is sent to the insurersThe report reaches both companies, and us as your broker, so we can start processing it.
What to do at the scene of the accident
The report is best filled in on the spot, with both vehicles still there. These four things prevent almost every problem that comes up later.
- If anyone is injured, call 112 first.
- Take photographs of both vehicles, their final position and the road signage.
- Don't sign a report you disagree with: you can fill in your own version and note it down.
- Let us know as soon as you can: we handle the claim and represent your interests with the insurer.
