Zurich and Its Financial Support Initiative for La Palma

Cumbre Vieja Volcano, La Palma

Because of the ongoing situation in La Palma and the consequences our clients are experiencing, we want to keep helping them in every way we can. That is why we are introducing a new measure:

Financial support

From now on, no client in a vulnerable situation who is due to renew their policy with us will see any increase in the net premium on their bill, regardless of where the risk is located on the island or which product they hold.

This measure will apply to policies renewing between October and December (inclusive), and Zurich will cover the full cost of these renewals.

We remain by our clients' side

•To date we have arranged rehousing in the Canary Islands, mainland Spain and central Europe for a total of 44 people whose homes were either directly affected by the lava or who were evacuated by the Authorities for being in a high-risk area. Remember that we offer all clients in the affected area the option of relocation and evacuation for themselves and those living with them, for an initial period of 10 days, which can be extended depending on how the situation develops (regardless of the cover taken out with the company).

•We have set up a dedicated team to report and document claims on behalf of our clients, through the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (CCS, Spain's Insurance Compensation Consortium) website, helping 100 families to date.

If needed, your clients can get in touch with you or call 900 104 936 directly (Monday to Friday, 08.00 to 18.00, mainland Spain time), and we will advise them on legal matters.

•Activation of humanitarian aid: the Spanish Red Cross, together with the Z Zurich Foundation, continue raising funds through a crowdfunding campaign to help everyone affected in the area.

•All clients who need it continue to have free access to psychological support from professionals experienced in this type of critical situation (same freephone number 900 104 936, Monday to Friday, 09.00 to 18.00, mainland Spain time).
